The objective of this project was to create a theme board based on a specific designers runway collection. After picking Delpozo Pre-Fall 2018 we interpreted the underlying aesthetics of the collection, generated our theme, and then visually represented the present theme, existing line, color story, and text through the use of principles of design. My group achieved this by picking a theme based on a current social issue, social roles of the modern woman. We went through a long process of struggling to find the perfect theme that represented our collection of feminine pieces with masculine attributes. We went through title names like social opposition, clashing of society, opposing viewpoints, and then finally ended on I’m with Her as a representation of the modern woman and their struggles leading up to where we are now.
I’m With Her is the title of our board representing our theme of modern women coming together to take on social roles that were once thought of as being socially unacceptable. Throughout the creation of this board we contemplated and discovered more in depth who the modern American woman is, what she has overcome, and where she is going in the future. For the creation of our board, we used Microsoft Powerpoint for all of it. Before doing this, I had no clue that this program could do as much as it could. We were able to cut out backgrounds from images and edit the photos all in one program. My group created board after board and it all came down to the placement of our images and the use of subtle color in the background that made the most significant difference in creating a balanced board. Our theme board hopes to capture that idea of strong modern women that can overcome obstacles and fearlessly go in the direction of their dreams. We are incredibly pleased with how our theme board came out and hope that you enjoy it as well.
